DEC - Anbalaya hosted the CRE training programme

DEC Anbalaya collaborated with the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD) to organise CRE Webinar Programme from 25th to 27th March 2021. The Inauguration on the first day starts with a warm welcome and a prayer song Mrs Arokia Mary, Correspondent & Principal Dec- Anbalaya welcomed the resource person and the gathering to make the day wonderful. The brief introduction about 25 years silver glorious celebration and also the explanation about the sensitive topic “Understanding Sexuality in Developmental Disabilities”. Resource persons invited from various part of the state to handle the topic in different perspectives. There were 50 professionals who attended three days webinar programme.

Towards the end of the training programme, the participants gained knowledge in various topic understanding sexual development, sexual education and its advantage and disadvantage, Myths and misperceptions of disability and sexuality, its relationship, sexual and psychosexual consideration in IDD, teaching appropriate sexual behaviours and role of parents, Marriage and sexuality and last but not least end up with sexual abuse and prevention and Law.

At the end of every session, the participants are evaluated by an assessment test. The participants shared that every session is very informative and knowledgeable in a clear crystal manner through the chatbox. In the valedictory function, DEC-Anbalaya, express his gratitude towards NIEPMD for giving an opportunity to conduct this online webinar platform and the programme coordinator Mrs Srigowri Rajesh, Clinical Psychologist, NIEPMD and all the Webinar Organising team.

Finally, the programme ended up with taking a group photo and a vote of thanks and thanking NIEPMD to collaborate with DEC to give the opportunity to organise the online Webinar.
